One of the most important components of great safaris are our guides. While there are many guides who are knowledgeable about animals there is more to being a great guide besides knowing about wildlife. You also have to speak good English, know how to spot leopards from hundreds of yards away as well as position your vehicle for the best photo opportunity. But most importantly have the personality to make it fun.
Meet Julius one of our favorite guides. Julius is from the Meru tribe, has 3 beautiful young children and friends all over the world. You can also see Julius in the History Channel’s Expedition Africa – Stanley & Livingston where he acted as the guide for 4 adventurers re-creating Stanley’s search for Dr. Livingston.
Julius always has a smile on his face even when I had the honor of teaching him how to swim (we called it doing the water buffalo paddle). Not only is he a great guide he is also a friend. I hope you will all have the opportunity to meet Julius one day.
