If you don’t know by now (wait I have not told you 🙂 ) I am on the Board of Trustees of the Cheetah Conservation Fund (www.cheetah.org). Every year I have done an event entitled “Meetah Cheetah” to coincide with CCF founder Dr. Laurie Marker’s spring tour through the United States. I am proud to say this is one of the successful fundraisers of CCF and it is always a delight to watch how people are awed by the site of a live cheetah within a few feet of them.

This year my wife Diane and I had the good fortune of doing the event with fellow trustee Elizabeth Marquart at her beautiful home (the Cheetah support crowd has outgrown ours). A great time was had by all. In addition to hearing Dr. Marker speak passionately about the plight of cheetahs (of which there are only about 10,000 surviving in the wild) our guests had the pleasure of meeting the beautiful Masika, an ambassador cheetah who resides in San Diego. The cheetahs who come to our events cannot be “re-wilded” and so serve to raise awareness for the endangered wild cheetahs around the world. One never gets tired of seeing one of these majestic animals. A special thanks goes to Jackie Navarro at Wild Wonders (www.wildwonders.org) where Masika lives. If you ever are in the San Diego area and have a chance to visit don’t miss it.

So why I am I telling you about this event? There is enough money to do all the things that Laurie and CCF want to do to save Cheetahs. There is enough money to institute all of the programs to teach people about conservation and how man and wildlife can live together. There is only one small problem. That money is still in your pocket. I encourage you to support this very important endeavor – Please donate – to get the money in the right pocket is just a click away.
