When I think of Burning Man I think of the fun, crazy artistic celebration in the desert here in the United States. In Namibia it is different.
Our Pre-Summit hosts, Wilderness Safaris really went all out for us and their staff did it with such style and beauty.
After having cocktails and watching the sunset above the dunes we descended down in the dark to an area that had been set up for a burning man ceremony. Historically, at a burning man ceremony one writes all of their regrets on a piece of paper and throws it in the fire. This way you discard all of your old regrets and start life anew.
The place they set up was sparkling with hundreds of candles with a large tree burning. After greeting us with song the wonderful Wilderness Staff prepared an incredible feast. They then provided us with a piece of paper we could roll up (with a little gun powder to give our regrets a great send off) and we all tossed our regrets in the fire.
What were mine? That is like telling someone what you wished for before you blow out your birthday candles!
