Wow - Elephants!

Wow – Elephants!

When I first went to Africa in 2000, I brought 50 rolls of 35mm film in a lead lined pouch and got to check my email 2 times during the 2 week period. Those were the only times when I was close to an internet café. It was the only way to get on the Internet.

In 2005 when I climbed Mt. Kilamanjaro I called my kids from the top of the mountain with a satellite phone.

And in 2008 when I took my kids to Africa I was able to use my cell phone in some of the places we traveled.
And now today not only is there cell service but you can also text and post on Facebook!

  1. Alan,
Fun to see a couple of our hundreds of fabulous Tanzanian moments on your blog. Will take this moment to thank you for a truly spectacular trip, which has unfolded spectacularly. Each day we marvel at how, between your pre-planning and the expert and lovely Guide Baraka, you all somehow manage to keep us in that magical sweet spot of fulfilling all our wishes and requests and yet still managing to surpass all expectations with amazing surprises! Also, the tented camps (Tarangire Safari Lodge and Kisima Ngeda) have been wonderful. Can’t wait for the next two!

  2. Cat & Lauire – I am sitting here with a big smile on my face. I am so happy you guys are having such a great time. Thank you for your wonderful kind words. I hope the rest of your Infinite Safari Adventures experience will be just as great! BTW I love the phrase “Elfie”! It is now part of my vocabulary! Asante Sana!
