I am constantly amazed at what can be done in the middle of the bush. After 16 years of going on safari I am still surprised. This trip was no difference.
While I will get back to my Malawi and Zambia reports in the next few weeks I have to share this wonderful experience with you. After Diane met me in Johannesburg we flew up to Victoria Falls and when we went over to the Zambian side we stayed at this incredible camp called Tongabezi which has an exclusive camp, Sindabezi, situated on an island in the middle of the Zambezi River.
With just 5 “chalets” on the island each one is very private. The only “folks” that can see you are the many birds, some monitor lizards and elephants who come to drink from the river.
When we got to our chalet we saw that it had a bathtub out on the deck. Diane commented how wonderful it looked. After settling in we went to have a delicious lunch and then sat in the “tree house” overlooking the river, reading, napping and having tea. At about 5 we went back to the chalet to clean up for dinner and to our surprise and Diane’s delight Joseph, one of our hosts was in the process of drawing a nice big bubble bath! Diane hopped in as the sun was setting and the night birds started singing.
Who says you can’t be comfortable in the bush!
